You Saved Me

A digital pen & ink illustration showing a man, a young girl, and a living severed head camping by a fire, with the man's armor and weapons in the background.

‘You saved me,’ says Niamh to Dullahan, her fatherly protector, as they rest by the cozy fire. ‘Pig’, the magically animated severed head, looks on.
This is one of the 13 interior illustrations for the recently published book Dullahan – Samhradh, which I illustrated.

Dullahan – Samhradh

Amazon cover of Dullahan - Samhradh

I can finally reveal the reason I haven’t been updating the site in a while: I was working on a book! Cover plus 13 internal illustrations. It’s a historical fantasy novel called Dullahan – Samhradh by @whitepillmedia, based on Irish mythology. It’s well written, sometimes weird (in a good way) and really quite unique. You can read the first chapter for free here. I’ll be posting a couple of the internal illustrations here in the following days.

Legacy

A digital pen & ink illustration, showing the head of a hominid, hooked up to a life support system, with an EEG helmet on.

In the short story ‘Legacy’ by Connor L.K., a father-son scientist duo attempt to revive grandpa by uploading a scan of his brain into a genetically-engineered hominid. Why? I don’t know, but I had fun drawing it. Published in Aegeon 8.

The Moment

Pen and ink illustration showing a mummified hand holding with two fingers onto the wheel of a large water valve.

Here’s another illustration from Aegeon 7, for the short story ‘The Moment’ by Wolf Vormelker. In it, two future archeologists discover the significance of a single moment in history.

Special Cargo

A pen and ink illustration showing the belly and crotch of a woman wearing a metallic bikini, holding a shiny chrome gun.

A slightly suggestive illustration for the short story ‘Special Cargo’ by Bruce Pendragon, appearing in Aegeon issue 7. You can probably tell I got the idea for it during my summer holiday at the beach. Lots of long hatching on this one, but it was worth it in the end I think. Check it out in the shop.

The Zone

The first page of the short comic 'The Zone'.

This is the first page from the 6-page comic ‘The Zone’ written and lettered by Brendan M. P. Heard, and drawn by me. It appeared in Aegeon issue 7. This was my first foray into the medium of comics, and a great learning experience.
